Kahnawà:ke Education Center (KEC) (Kahnawà:ke, Quebec – 23 Ohiarihkó:wa/July 2020)

KEC Directors and the Kahnawà:ke Combined Schools Committee are preparing to release KEC school reopening plans for the 2020-2021 school year.  Parents, students, educators, and community members should note these plans are being made with consideration of the complexities and needs of all stakeholders.  Our highest priority is the health and safety of all.

Preparation and planning for our return to school began immediately after the closure in early March 2020.  The KEC launched a diverse professional development plan for all educators in preparation for a return to school with on-line learning delivery. Purchases such as Chromebooks, iPads, personal protective equipment (PPE), thermometers, and sanitation products are already at the schools or awaiting delivery.

We will continue to work closely with school administrators, managers, coordinators, and school staff to develop delivery models, scheduling, as well as other vital plans essential to deliver educational services to our diverse stakeholders.

The decisions we are making to support the academic, social, and emotional needs of our students and their families carry a heavy responsibility.  We intend to offer parents options to support their child/children’s needs and ask our community to support one another. We are all working hard and doing our best to ensure the plans being made are to serve the best interest, health, and well-being of parents, students, KEC teachers, and staff.

Niawenhkó:wa for your patience and understanding. We will communicate preliminary plans in the coming weeks and assure the community that the health and safety of our students, staff, and community are our utmost concern.
