Call for Proposals for Kanien'kéha Immersion Initiatives
This open call invites proposals for innovative education projects to complement Karonhianónhnha Tsi lonterihwaienstáhkhwa's existing elementary immersion programming. Student-centered projects should aim to strengthen our language revitalization efforts in alignment with the mission of our school: to provide quality education where our students can learn Kanien'kéha language and traditions to ensure our language and culture will continue into the future.
Project length may vary; however, activities must be implemented within the timeframe of June 2026 - June 2027.
ELGIBILITY
- MUST BE DELIVERED IN KANIEN'KÉHA.
- Projects must support and enhance elementary-level Kanien'kéha immersion programming.
- Must be unique and innovative, introducing new approaches, tools, or hands-on learning experiences.
- Must align with our school's mission and mandate: language revitalization, cultural continuity, and community engagement.
- Must be student centered
EXAMPLES OF PROJECTS
- Kanien'kéha storytelling initiatives that promote oral traditions.
- Experiential arts, music & land-based Kanien'kéha programs.
- Lunch & after school projects that focus on traditional skills development.
- Traditional cooking classes that promote healthy lifestyles & nutrition.
- Sports oriented camps that encourage physical activity & participation.
- Drama
- Camps that promote Kanien'kéha dialogue & conversation.
- Traditional teachings & activities that foster a positive Kanien'kehá:ka identity.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- PROJECT DESCRIPTION (max 3 pages): Objectives, activities, and expected outcomes.
- INNOVATION STATEMENT: How is your project unique?
- ALIGNMENT STATEMENT: How does it complement existing immersion programming?
- PROJECTED BUDGET: Detailed breakdown of costs including:
- Materials and supplies
- Technology or equipment
- Travel (if applicable)
- Other applicable costs
- Kanien'kéha Speaking Personnel
- Hononoraria for elders, facilitators
