Kahnawà:ke Education Center (KEC)
Kahnawà:ke, Quebec – 20 Tsothohrhkó:wa/January 2022
The Kahnawà:ke Education Center is pleased to announce Sheena Konwen:ni Zachary is the successful candidate for the Karonhianónhnha Tsi Ionterihwaienstáhkhwa Associate Principal position.
Sheena brings over eight years teaching experience and successfully completed her McGill University Certificate in Education for First Nations and Inuit in 2018.
“I am really thankful for this new opportunity to work with the Kahnawà:ke Education Center. I am looking forward to working with the team at Karonhianónhnha. Years ago, the Kahnawà:ke Education Center invested in my formal studies and to be able to come full circle and be able to give back to the community is both an honour, and exciting responsibility that I'm looking forward to. On a personal level, my roots are tied here in Kahnawà:ke and with the Annishinabe of Long Point, a small northern community about 600km north of us. I was fortunate to be exposed to two Onkwehón:we languages and cultures, which have created a strong passion that guides not only my life but how I approach my work. I am beyond thrilled to share my experiences with my new peers and to continue with my own life-long learning journey of our traditions here in Kahnawà:ke.” Sheena Konwen:ni Zachary.
Sheena officially begins her new role Monday, January 24, 2022. We look forward to working with her and welcoming her to this exciting role in our education system.
