For The KEC, identifying a student with COVID-19 now falls within these categories:

·         COVID-19 related symptoms identified at home verified using home rapid test

·         COVID-19 related symptoms identified at school and test administered at school

·         COVID-19 related symptoms identified at home or school (no test given)

 

For an adequately vaccinated individual 12 yrs. and older:

          Isolation for 5 days

          Return to school on day 6 if no symptoms and without fever for 24 hours

          Advise school of scheduled return and schedule appointment with safety monitor to administer rapid test for school re-entry on day 6

          On return to school, strict wearing of masks and social distancing for next 5 days

          Always monitoring for symptoms

          It is recommended to administer test on day 5 if symptomatic.  If home rapid test is positive on day 5, continue isolation for another 5 days

          Return to school on day 11 symptom free, without fever for 24 hours. No school rapid test required for re-entry

 

For unvaccinated individuals 12 years and older:

          Isolation for 10 days

          Returns to school on day 11 without symptoms and no fever in the last 48 hours. No school rapid test required for re-entry

 

For children under 12 (N-Gr. 6)

          Isolation for 5 days

          Return to school on day 6 if no symptoms and without fever for 24 hours

          Advise school of scheduled return and schedule appointment with safety monitor to administer rapid test

          On return to school, strict wearing of masks and social distancing for next 5 days

          Always monitoring for symptoms

          It is recommended to administer rapid test on day 5 if symptomatic.  If home rapid test is positive on day 5, continue isolation for another 5 days

          If no rapid test administered, 10-day isolation period. Return to school day 11 if no symptoms. No school rapid test required for re-entry

 

Case Management--Who else should isolate?

The following individuals would be identified as high risk - (household contacts, siblings, parent, sexual partner)

For fully vaccinated person 12 yrs. and older who had a household contact with a symptomatic or COVID-19 positive person:

          Isolation for 5 days

          Isolation starts the day the individual was symptomatic

          For days 6-10, strict mask wearing and 6 foot distancing as much as possible

 

For individuals 12 yrs. and older who are not fully vaccinated and had a household contact with a symptomatic or positive COVID-19 individual:

          Isolate for 10 days

          Return to school/work on day 11 as long as no symptoms and no fever longer than 48 hrs. prior.

 

Children under 12 yrs. of age who had household contact with a symptomatic or positive COVID-19 individual:

          Isolation for 5 days

          Can return to school on day 6 if a negative rapid test and no symptoms
