New Associate Director of Education for the Kahnawà:ke Education Center


Kahnawà:ke Education Center (KEC) (Kahnawà:ke, Quebec – 15 Kentenhkó:wa/November 2021) - The Kahnawà:ke Education Center is pleased to announce Falen Iakowennaié:was Jacobs is the successful candidate for the indeterminate Associate Director of Education position. 

Falen has been working in the education system for 16 years.  Within her tenure as an Educator, she has filled roles such as Teacher Assistant, Classroom Teacher, Resource Teacher, and most recently, a combined role as Associate Principal and Interim Principal of Karonhianónhnha Tsi Ionterihwaienstáhkhwa.  She brings with her a wealth of knowledge including a Masters of Education in Educational Psychology with a concentration in Inclusive Education, a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.  Falen is currently enrolled in McGill University’s Educational Leadership Program, Certificate 1.    

“I’m very honoured and thankful to have been selected for the role of Associate Director of Education. It has been a dream of mine since I was a young girl to be able to give back to our community in an educational leadership capacity. I am looking forward to working collaboratively with the Director, each of our three incredible schools, and the entire team at the Kahnawà:ke Education Center in my new position. My goal is to continue to bring innovative & culturally-rich educational programs, services, and opportunities to our elementary, secondary and post-secondary students that are responsive to our unique needs as Onkwehón:we learners.” Falen Iakowennaié:was Jacobs 

Falen has proven herself a valuable leader who is well respected by her peers.  She maintains a strong work ethic, and her passion for culture and community is precisely what has driven her into her new role. Falen will begin her new role as Associate Director of Education in January of 2022.
