Kahnawà:ke Education Center (KEC) Kahnawà:ke, Quebec – 17 Seskéha/August 2021 - KEC is pleased to release the 2021/2022 Education System calendar. You will find this on our website through this link:
We apologize for the lengthy delay. Some major areas to note within the 2021/2022 calendar are:
- We have returned to a five-day school week.
- This year brings a new statutory holiday and as such, we will be observing the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation on Thursday, September 30, 2021. This new holiday will commemorate the tragic legacy of residential schools in Canada. We have calculated this holiday into our calendar by replacing one of our Pedagogical days to ensure we cover the mandatory 180 school days.
- This school year will have two terms. First-term begins in September and closes in January 2022. The second term will begin in January until June 2022. We will issue progress reports in November of this year. Due to the impacts of the pandemic last school year, it is not in the best interest of our students to determine their success in such a short period. Therefore, progress reports will enable educators and parents the opportunity to meet and discuss student re-entry and address imminent needs identified.
- We have set aside two conditional Ped Days for unforeseen needs (snow day, COVID-19 related planning, etc.).
We understand that parents are eagerly awaiting news on plans for school re-opening. Our staff is working tirelessly to ensure our schools are set up safely to receive our students back on site. We ask parents to keep an eye out for future communications on our school re-openings, as they will be forthcoming.
