Kahnawà:ke Education Center (KEC) (Kahnawà:ke, Quebec – 13 Tsothohrhkó:wa/January  2021) Further to our release of January 7, 2021, the KEC has decided to remain functioning with the current restrictions in place. The KEC will continue to serve students of essential workers on-site while assessing the immediate needs of our vulnerable student population.  This measure will remain in effect until January 29, 2021.

The KEC thanks essential working parents for doing their part by keeping their children home, if able.

“Student numbers within our schools were relatively low during these past two weeks. We want to remind parents that if you are concerned about your child’s well-being to contact your respective school. Niá:wen to all for doing your part during this concerning period,” said Robin Delaronde, Director of Education for the KEC.

The KEC hopes these extreme measures will bring us closer to ensuring that all essential and vulnerable students who were on-site prior to the Christmas break can return by February 1, 2021.

The KEC staff continues to support our students with their online studies.  We thank them for their flexibility and patience while adapting to the numerous changes.

“We are continuing to assess both methods of education (distance and on-site) and are planning for the remainder of the school year with the guidance of local public health,” Delaronde said, “additionally, more information will be coming in terms of data, assessments, and reporting.”

Please continue to follow all the necessary safety precautions in order to help keep our community safe.
