Kahnawà:ke Education Center (KEC) (Kahnawà:ke, Qc – 29 Tsothóhrha / December 2020)
The current pandemic situation remains unpredictable and preventative measures have been implemented within the community of Kahnawà:ke during and after the holiday season. With the stricter restrictions and new directives, we understand that there may be questions as to why our schools would not enforce tighter measures, as well. We remind our community that the KEC has already surpassed the safety measures in effect for schools throughout the province of Quebec.
KEC Schools will continue to offer on-site services to students who were in school just prior to the Christmas break (this includes children of essential workers and students who are vulnerable). However, we strongly suggest that if you are in a situation where you can keep your child home during the week of January 4, to please do so. We ask that you contact your respective school on Monday, January 4, 2021, to inform the school if this is your intention. Each school will determine the type of educational supports for these students during the four days they are remaining home.
There will be no disruption to the regular programming provided to students enrolled in remote learning programs (KEC Home Learning Program and Remote Learning Program).
“We always ask for vigilance from our employees and parents when entering our schools," states Director of Education, Robin Delaronde. “Following the holiday season, we are asking parents for extra vigilance and compliance. Our schools have been very successful limiting the risk of contracting COVID19 and we will continue to implement procedures upon our return.”
We remind parents who may have traveled out of the country during the holidays to please follow the guidelines for quarantine and not to send your child(ren) to school until your self-isolation is complete. It is also important to continue to fill out the daily health check prior to sending your child to school.
