Kahnawà:ke Education Center (KEC) (Kahnawà:ke, Qc – 18 Tsothóhrha / December 2020)
With the upcoming Christmas holiday and school break almost upon us, the KEC would like to take this opportunity to remind parents that the Kahnawake COVID-19 Task Force has clear travel restrictions in place that we all must adhere to. These travel guidelines can be found on the Kateri Memorial Hospital Center website at www.kmhc.ca or by following this link: http://covid-19.kmhc.ca/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/18.3-Travel-Update-dir18.3-EDC.pdf.
It is difficult to have to advise families on what they should do during the holidays as this is already a stressful time of year. However, should your family need to travel outside of Canada for humanitarian reasons, it is extremely important to remember the guidelines upon return.
Anyone who has traveled outside of Canada must quarantine for 14 days and not return to school until the quarantine is complete. Not only is this a safety protocol, which serves in the best interest of the KEC staff and student population, but it also helps to keep the community’s health and well-being a top priority.
“You have to count on people to make good decisions to keep ourselves and each other safe,” says Robin Delaronde, Director of Education for the KEC, “we’re counting on people to make good decisions outside of school”.
Parents must advise the school if they have traveled and school administration will be asking for proof of the date of re-entry into Canada before a child is permitted in school on-site.
In order to keep the Corona Virus at bay is imperative that we work together and follow the guidelines developed by our local COVID-19 Task Force.
Happy Holidays and Be Safe!
