Kahnawà:ke Education Center (KEC) (Kahnawà:ke, Quebec – 19 Kentenhkó:wa/November 2020) - The Kahnawà:ke Combined Schools Committee (KCSC) is pleased to announce that two seats were filled on the committee. One general seat and one KSS representative seat. Shyann White was appointed the general seat by acclamation at the Annual General Assembly, which took place on Wednesday, November 18, 2020. The Kahnawake Survival School representative seat was also filled, however prior to the meeting. Jodie Norton was appointed this seat by the parents of KSS at their In-School Committee Meeting, which took place on Tuesday, November 17, 2020. She joins Marnie Jacobs as one of the two KSS representatives on the KCSC. The terms of office on the KCSC are three years from the date of appointment. The committee is very excited to have two new members join the team.
The following seats on the KCSC remain vacant:
- 1 General Seat (for a parent/guardian of a student(s) attending outside schools funded by the KEC),
- 1 Community Seat (for an Onkwéhon:we who does not have a child on the KEC nominal roll, and;
- 1 Karonhianónhnha Tsi Ionterihwaienstáhkhwa Seat (for a parent with a child attending Karonhianónhnha Tsi Ionterihwaienstáhkhwa.
The KCSC will decide at their next meeting if they will hold a special election at a later date for the vacant general and community seats.
