KEC Evaluation of Phase 1 Reopening Plans

PDF

Kahnawà:ke Education Center (KEC) (Kahnawà:ke, Quebec – 29 Kenténha/October 2020)  KEC Schools have identified the structure of their reopening plans to be a phased approach.  Phase 1 will end on October 30, 2020.  Our plans for Phase 2 will be released, with an overview of an assessment of Phase 1, during the week of November 3, 2020.

During this time, we need to remain mindful of the Kahnawà:ke Task Force COVID-19 colored alert system and remember that we must follow the directives, during each alert level. Currently, we are in a Red Alert Level, and as such, we will continue to function with the directives set forth by the Kahnawà:ke COVID-19 Task Force, which stipulates limited access to our schools.

We are in the process of conducting an overall assessment of our KEC Home Learning Program, this assessment includes:

  • Parent satisfaction survey
  • Distant learning teacher input
  • School staff survey
  • Phone calls to parents who have students enrolled in the program to determine their intentions (opt-in or opt-out of the KEC Home Learning Program)

We will also be completing an assessment on the needs and impacts of remote learning for students and their parents.  This includes students affected by the school closures during Phase 1 and may not have met the criteria for essential on-site education.  We will send a survey to parents of these students on Thursday, October 29, 2020, and give parents until Sunday, November 1, 2020, at 3 pm to submit their input.

It is important to say that this input is necessary in order to decipher how we can further support our students and their parents during the Red Level Alert School Closures.  We strongly encourage our parents to take the time to complete the survey by the deadline date indicated above.
