Kahnawà:ke Education Center (KEC) (Kahnawà:ke, Quebec –  10 Seskéha/August 2020) KEC Schools are taking all precautions to ensure that our schools are safe for our returning students according to all the guidelines set forth by the Kahnawake Task Force.  However, we do understand that parents still have concerns about sending their child(ren) to school on-site.  With that in mind, we are in the process of developing a KEC Home Learning Program (a parent-led learning program that will be monitored and supported by your respective school).  This option will give those parents who choose the KEC Home Learning Program resources and materials to guide them through teaching their child(ren) while at home.  Further details regarding this program will be released shortly.

For now, we are asking that parents make themselves available tomorrow, Tuesday, August 11, and Wednesday, August 12, to receive calls from their respective school administration to determine important information for planning purposes.

For Elementary Schools: you will be asked the following questions:

  1. Will your child be attending school or participating in the KEC Home Learning Program?
  2. It is strongly recommended that you drive your child to school due to safety reasons and limited space.  If your child is attending school on-site, will you be able to pick them up/and drop them off?

For KSS, we will be providing a blended learning program.  This program will entail on-line learning and on-site learning.  You will be asked if you have any concerns about your child being on-site during this blended program.  You will be asked the following questions:

  1. Will your child be attending KSS with the blended approach (online/on-site)?
  2. Do you have any concerns with your child participating in the on-site component of the blended learning program?
  3. It is strongly recommended that you drive your child to school due to safety reasons and limited space.  If your child is attending school on-site, will you be able to pick them up/and drop them off?

For those parents who send their child to a special education school outside of the community, you will be receiving a call regarding transportation from Carrie Brisson, KEC Coordinator of Student Services and Family Engagement.

For those students who are attending schools off the reserve, MCK Transportation is asking that you contact Spencer McComber at the Bus Depot either by telephone at 450-632-5825 or by email at spencer.mccomber@mck.ca to discuss your intentions for bus services for the year.
