Notice to our Parents regarding KEC Re-Opening Plans

The Kahnawake Education Center and Kahnawake Combined School Committee with authorization from the Kahnawake Covid-19 Taskforce have decided to re-open our schools. We will proceed with a phased approach that will begin on August 24 until the end of October 30.

Week of September 14, 15, 16, and 17 – Parent and Student Orientation Week

  • All schools will be contacting parents to schedule individual meetings.
  • Parents will be informed of health and safety protocols prior to entering our buildings.
  • Meeting times must be respected. They will be timed and if late, will need to be re-scheduled.
  • The purpose of these meetings:
    • introductions;
    • for parents to observe school set-up;
    • answer questions;
    • confirm contact numbers;
    • chrome book deployment and sign-out agreement.
  • Additional meetings with parents will be organized by our Student Services Team in order to discuss Individual Education Plans or additional support services your child will require.
  • Additional meetings with parents who have opted for the home learning program at elementary and secondary schools.

Week of September 21, 22, 23, 24 - Grade level staggered re-entry for all schools

  • These days will be full days as per school start and finish times.
    School start hours:

Kateri School
8:00 - 3:00 grades 1-6
8:30 - 2:00 nursery/kindergarten

Karonhianonhnha School
8:00 -3:15 grades 1-6
9:00 - 2:00 nursery/kindergarten

Kahnawake Survival School
9:00 - 3:15

  • Lunch Services will be communicated by your respective schools.

Week of September 28 – Regular school days

  • Regular start and finish as per grade level and school.
  • After school daycare services will be provided for working parents only for Nursery/Kindergarten from 2:00 – 4:15.
  • No after school programming for grades 1-6

During the first phase of school re-entry, Fridays will be Ped days.  We can expect some challenges and ask for your patience and support.  Please stay connected to KEC or the School Facebook pages as well as the KEC website at for possible changes and updates.
