Kahnawà:ke Education Center (KEC) (Kahnawà:ke, Quebec – 24 Seskehkó:wa ~ September 2019) – The Kahnawà:ke Education Center supports the protection of Mother Earth. September 20-27 2019 marks a global climate strike where educational institutions and organizations all over the world will organize in protest of the earth’s precarious environmental state.
The KEC and its three schools support these global efforts to activate positive changes. Our planet is life. It is suffering. Change is necessary, for the present and for our future generations.
After consultation with school administration, we would like to keep parents, students and community informed of ways in which we plan to bring awareness to the call for support of global climate change.
- During the week of September 23rd, our KEC schools will be bringing awareness to the cause by identifying activities and/or initiatives that students and staff can implement that would have a direct impact on climate change.
- Please check your school parent page to keep up to date on school/system/community initiatives that may be organized.
- Currently, all schools have determined that they will not be calling for a system-wide Ped Day on Friday, September 27, 2019. Rather they will be organizing event(s) on that day to support and bring awareness to the cause. More information will be provided.
- Parents who wish to take their child(ren) to this event are encouraged. Please inform your respective school so that your child will not be considered absent.
