Kahnawà:ke Education Center (KEC) (Kahnawà:ke, Quebec – 11 Seskehkó:wa/September 2019) – Due to concerns expressed by some Kahnawake Survival School (KSS) parents and community members, the KEC and KSS would like to address the status of the KSS Wrestling Team practices.

KSS proudly provides approximately 75 students the opportunity to participate in different sports of their choice which include wrestling, basketball, lacrosse, golf, soccer, volleyball, track and field, and ball hockey; many of which are at the GMAA level, and in preparation for the FNEC Games. In order to provide practice opportunities for all students, the gym schedule is set up to best accommodate the practice schedules of all sports. Wrestling practices are currently scheduled daily with bus transportation provided.

Over the coming weeks, coaches for the different sports will be putting teams and schedules together. Once this is determined, KSS will review the gym schedule to consider the needs of full gym activities including games and tournaments, full court practices, and academic activities such as science and career fairs, open house, and exams. This may, on occasion, lead to the rescheduling of sports practices.

Both KSS and the KEC acknowledge and celebrate the proud history and legacy of the KSS Wrestling Team. We are also proud that KSS students are committing to and excelling in several different sports at the GMAA and FNEC level.
