KCSC Announces Resignation and New KSS Representative (PDF)
Kahnawà:ke Combined Schools Committee (KCSC) (Kahnawà:ke, Quebec – 13 Tsothórha / December 2018) - The Kahnawà:ke Combined Schools Committee (KCSC) would like to advise the community that Diane Deer, the 207 Longhouse representative on the KCSC resigned on December 5, 2018. A tireless and committed volunteer on the committee for 7 years; she made many personal sacrifices and always went above and beyond expectation to carry out the grassroots work of the KCSC with the utmost integrity.
The KCSC has been extremely fortunate to have had Diane and thanks her for her dedication and hard work during her time on the KCSC. She is wished much success on all of her future endeavours; she will be missed.
The 207 Longhouse has been notified of her resignation and will work diligently on finding a replacement. The KCSC is hopeful that her vacant seat will be filled by January so that work can begin in the new year with a full committee.
Also, the In-School Committee at Kahnawake Survival School (KSS) would like to announce that elections for the KSS Representative Seat on the KCSC were held on Wednesday, December 12th at KSS In-School Parent Meeting. Marnie Jacobs was elected the KSS Representative on the KCSC with 13 votes. Other nominees were outgoing KSS Representative Shelley Rice (4 votes), and Melissa McGregor (2 votes).
Marnie will join Karonhí:io Curotte on the KCSC as KSS Representatives.
The KCSC welcomes Marnie to the KCSC table as the tremendous work to push forth the vision of its founding members continues.
