KEC Announces Administration Changes at KSS

 

Kahnawà:ke Education Center (KEC) (Kahnawà:ke, Quebec – 06 Kentenhkó:wa / November 2018) - The Kahnawà:ke Education Center (KEC) would like to announce changes in administration at Kahnawake Survival School (KSS) with the impending return of Principal Jackie Leclaire from a leave of absence.

 

Prior to the beginning of the 2018/2019 school year, Ms. Leclaire had indicated that she was ready to return to her role as Classroom Teacher and had made the decision to not continue on in her role as principal at KSS for the 2019/2020 school year. After the resignation of the Pedagogy Officer in August 2018, Associate Director Earlyn Sharpe stepped in to provide support to Ms. Leclaire. Shortly after in September, Ms. Leclaire went on a leave of absence and Ms. Sharpe’s role developed to include responsibilities of Interim Principal of KSS. Ms. Leclaire is scheduled to return to KSS tomorrow Friday, December 7th in her new position as Associate Principal of KSS Senior School which will conclude on July 12, 2019.

 

Wahiakatste Diome-Deer will be continuing in her role as Associate Principal but within the KSS Middle School. For the 2019/2020 school year, Ms. Leclaire will be returning to her position of teacher at the KSS Middle School. Consideration will also be given for her continue her role as Associate Principal for the KSS Senior School.

 

Treena Delisle has been recruited by the KEC to carry out the duties of Interim Principal/Pedagogy Officer of KSS for the remainder of the 2018/2019 school year. Ms. Delisle has a solid background in education and an understanding of the functioning of KEC schools and system.  She has also held a seat on the Kahnawà:ke Combined Schools Committee (KCSC) from October 2011 to May 2013. Ms. Delisle holds a Master’s Degree in Curriculum Studies, a Bachelor of Education, and a Teaching Certificate from McGill University. She has worked with the KEC schools as a Teacher and Teacher Assistant, and as an Classroom Educator at Step By Step Child and Family Center. She will begin working in her new role on Monday, December 10th.

 

Upon Ms. Leclaire’s return, Earlyn Sharpe will resume her role as Associate Director of Education, which includes continued support of all schools’ administration teams, as well as the Post-Secondary Department of the KEC.
