The Kahnawà:ke Combined Schools Committee(KCSC) would like to address misinformation in the community to the effect that money has gone missing or has been mismanaged within the KEC. These rumors are entirely without basis and not grounded in fact. No money has gone missing and the financial management of our organization is stable and sound. Our annual financial statement for the 2017-2018 school year is publicly available and may be viewed on the KEC website at www.kecedu.ca.
This issue of false information circulating in relation to the KEC finances was addressed by the KEC Communications Officer on behalf of the Kahnawà:ke Education Center (KEC) in a Communiqué dated Thursday, September 13, 2018. Sadly, it has come to our attention that misinformation continues to circulate, combined with personal attacks toward the Director of Finance and Administration, Mr. Louie John Diabo. We are concerned that this misinformation has the potential to impact the reputation of our organization and our employees.
As the body responsible for the oversight of the Director of Finance and Administration we feel it is important to advise community members that the financial work done by Mr. Louie John Diabo and his team is beyond reproach and always meets, and often surpasses, industry standards.
ver the years of his employment at the KEC, Mr. Diabo has made many justified and tough decisions that may have caused discontent. Making unpopular yet necessary decisions is an important part of Mr. Diabo’s job. If people have questions, we are not asking anyone to be silent. We are asking that people seek answers in a respectful manner.
We call upon the community to refrain from spreading harmful, unverified information and for everyone to reflect before accepting rumors as truth. If you have any specific information or questions, please contact Jerilyn Horn by e-mail at KCSC@kecedu.ca. Signed respectfully on behalf of the KCSC,
Deidre Kahwinéhtha Diome
Chairperson, Kahnawà:ke Combined Schools Committee (KCSC)
